Title:1s gen. Clear Corner and Clear Bumper Lense Changing How-To

Author:jchargu3

FOR THE BUMPER LENSES...

There are three small screws that hold the lense in place, 7mm on my truck, 2 on top one on bottom

1. Take those out and it slides right out of the bumper hole,
2. Whenever the lense is out, untwist the bulb socket from the housing and remove.
3. unscrew the bulb and remove
4. Insert orange bulb (1157), screw bulb back in, *see note 1*
5. insert bulb socket into clear lense and screw twist to install.
6. Reinsert clear lense into bumper and screw in with the 3 screws using factory holes... EASY AND SIMPLE...= DONE

Now for the corners, you have to take the grille out and the headlight surrounds. Once the Headlight surrounds are removed.. Do the following

1. unscrew the 194 wedge bulb from the corner lens,
2. you will then have a small nut to take off of a plastic "bolt", i believe its 10mm i THINK..... anyway,
3. Take off the orange reflector, replace with clear reflector, screw on the nut,
4. change clear 194 bulb to orange 194 bulb, *see Note 2*
5. Insert into housing,
6. put housing back on truck,
7. Repeat for other side and install grille.... EASY... Somewhat simple, The most difficult part is removing the grille to do the change.

As always be patient whenever doing this, you do not want to break anything. BE GENTLE while bolting the clear lense back onto the headlight surrounding, you can overtorque and strip the plastic mounting tab.
*Note 1* You may choose to install LED bulbs into your clear housings, for a different look and more clear effect. You can purchase the LED's from http://www.superbrightleds.com

Superbright LEDS you have a choice between different intensity's and angles. You will want to use "Wide Angle" to fill the housing with the nice amber light that LED's create. OR you can choose part number 1157-A24, which features 15 forward facing LEDs and 6 Side facing LEDS for a brighter, more radial fill. These bulbs cost 6.99 each, but you may certainly choose different bulbs/styles/brightness.

Also, when installing LED's into your bumper lenses, you need to buy resistors that you need to connect to your Ground wire, and Turn Signal (+) wire on the wiring for the Bumper lenses, you need one per side. Electronic Flasher Modules will not work.

*Note 2* You may choose to instal LEDS bulbs into your clear corner housings. For a brighter more attention getting look with the clear effect. You can purchase these LED's from http://www.superbrightleds.com You will want to look for NON POLARIZED #194 wedge bulbs. You HAVE to have nonpolarized bulbs, as first generation S-Series use reverse polarity corner lights.

Example: Turn your turn signals on, both your Bumper Lights, and your Corner lights light up at the same time, now turn your parking lights on, the corner and bumper lights alternate. This is due to the reverse polarity. These non-polarized bulbs cost $2.99 each You do not need resistors for the corner lights.
