Hypertech Chip Installation (1st Gen S-series)

This "how-to" is for 1st gens only.

Installing a Hypertech chip is very easy. You only need simple hand tools.

-The first step is to unplug the negative battery cable.
-Second take off the passenger side kick panel with a phillips screwdriver.
-Take out the onboard computer. The computer is a large silver box located on the passenger side under the dash.
-Take off the face plate that is on the back of the computer box.Then you should see the computer chip.
-With a flat head screwdriver and gently pry up on each side of the chip until it pops out.
-Take the new chip and push it in making sure the alignment slot is in the same place as the original chip.
-Once the new chip is in place put the cover back on the computer.
-Reinstall the computer back in the dash.
-Put the kick panel back,plug up the negative battery cable.
-Let the truck run for about 5 minutes for the fuel flow and timing to adjust.
-Go out and enjoy the extra power.
