Title:Free ET for the 4L60
Author:sparky
| For whatever reason (factory programming error?) when drag racing my truck I noticed (through data-logging) the TCC lock up at about 83 mph. I unhooked it in order not to burn up my TCC and was rewarded with an extra .07-.1 et. Odd part was mph actually dropped about .4 mph! This is confirmed every weekend because I always forget to unhook it first pass! I can really tell the difference now that I'm in the 14's. The truck gets about 1100 feet and you can feel the motor pull down, OOPS! ADDL. INFO 1) My trans. is a 4L60. I do not know if a 4L60E locks up at full throttle at high speeds. A voltmeter on the TCC solenoid would be necessary to find out (unless you have access to a scan tool). The 4L60E uses a PWM solenoid so you wouldn't see a drop to 0 but rather a steadily decreasing voltage as the solenoid pulses ground. 2) I have since added a higher stall converter so the difference is even greater. |
